Android 2.3.5 CyanogenMod 7.1 RC1.5 pour Motorola Defy

Motorola Defy
Voici donc après quelques mois de dur labeur, une version "stable" pour le Motorola Defy. En effet, Android AOSP est sur le point de publier la version 2.3.6 et impliquera un certain nombre de changements (merge) pouvant causer de nouveaux problèmes dans CyanogenMod.

Notre version actuelle étant testée et approuvée par plusieurs dizaines de milliers d'utilisateurs, j'ai pensé qu'une version intermédiaire était nécessaire.


Au passage après une "purge" d'anciennes données statistiques (> 60 jours) , le motorola defy (jordan, umts_jordan ou mb525) est maintenant le deuxième appareil en nombre d'installations de CyanogenMod 7 dans le monde. Le premier étant le HTC Desire (bravo) et le 3ème que nous venons de dépasser : le HTC EVO 4G (supersonic)

Je rappelle que contrairement aux autres "ROMs" existantes pour le motorola defy (y compris les officielles de motorola ou d'Orange) cette ROM est à 90% open-source, les sources étant disponibles sans contrainte via github ou kernel.org (environ 10Go, 15 apres compilation !).
Les composants non-opensource manquants sont issus de motorola.

A ce propos android.git.kernel.org est actuellement fermé pour maintenance...

La rom chinoise MIUI est basée sur notre travail mais ne diffuse pas ses sources.

Après Linux 3.0 la semaine dernière, voici Android 2.3.5 (AOSP), dernière révision Gingerbread en date.

Depuis quelques semaines, je fais partie de l'équipe de développement CyanogenMod, en grande partie pour le support de cet appareil. Mais je travaille aussi sur des projets commun à tous les appareils supportés.

Nous utilisons le système de gestion de sources GIT (et REPO) associé à un système intéressant de "contrôle des modifications" (review), introduit par Google (cf. projet web nommé Gerrit).

Le Motorola Defy (nom de code "jordan") est maintenant le 3ème appareil en nombre d'installation de CyanogenMod 7 dans le monde (30.000 appareils différents installés sur les 60 derniers jours). Il a connu une montée fulgurante en comparaison des autres appareils et cela même avant le support "officiel" par Cyanogen.
